I am very excited to announce to you all a brand new venture and format for my Nature Classes:
ADULT ED & BEV
This fun and informative series of classes will be held at Sante the Wine Bar in Downtown Sylva over the course of 6 Tuesday Evenings from 6-8pm. The cost is only $180 per student ($30/week.)
Foraging for Wild Foods and Medicine 6-Weeks June 2-July 7
The land around us contains many Plants and Fungi that can be gathered and used to help feed ourselves and help keep us and our families healthy and well. We will spend time in the classroom and in the field to learn about the many different edible and medicinal species that you can find and forage from the woods. This course will lean strongly on the ethics and rules of foraging to help ensure future harvests, and on safety and proper identification of forest products.
Class costs $180 per student, not including wine purchases. Ask me about sliding scale pricing. To register please send an email to bigelownc@gmail.com

Starting an organic garden is easy, and fun. Keeping your garden going throughout the year and over the years while harvesting abundant, healthy produce can be a little more challenging.
This course will help you to have a successful garden experience, from the ground up. We will cover soil ecology, composting and fertility; garden preparation and seed starting; weeds, pests and disease prevention and control; companion planting, the role of flowers and native plants in attracting beneficial insect allies, and much more.
Through a combination of classroom instruction and field trips to local Gardens, students will gain knowledge and experience in gardening and be able to use that information to grow a successful organic garden at home.
